Class Overview

Take your table saw skills to the next level with expert instructor Burke McGuinness! In this hands-on class, you’ll complete a custom photo frame project while learning how to make precise dados, grooves, bevels, miters, and angled cuts with confidence. Whether you’re familiar with these terms or they’re completely new to you, this class will give you the knowledge and hands-on practice needed to master advanced table saw techniques.

By the end of this four-hour session, you’ll have a professionally finished photo frame (with a kickstand or wall mount) and the confidence to tackle more complex cuts on your own.

What You’ll Learn

  • Table Saw Safety – Reviewing hazards & safe operating techniques

  • Blade Selection & Setup – Identifying, removing, and installing the right blade for each cut

  • Managing Blade Brakes – Understanding the safety features of modern table saws

  • Guides & Jigs – Setting up fences, rip guides, crosscut sleds, and miter gauges

  • Advanced Cutting Techniques – Creating dados, grooves, miters, and angled cuts

  • Precision Cutting – Adjusting blade angles with an angle finder & digital angle box

  • Material Support & Feed Rollers – Using infeed/outfeed rollers for stability

  • Featherboards & Taper Jigs – Understanding how to apply pressure and make tapered cuts (discussion only)
