Learn to Throw and Craft Your Own Handmade Mug on the Pottery Wheel



Class Overview
Looking for a crash course in making a mug on the pottery wheel? In this hands-on workshop you’ll be guided you through the essentials of mug making, from shaping your clay on the wheel to crafting a handle.
Designed and taught by professional potter Liz from Liz Sax Ceramics, this workshop is totally adaptable to your individual skill level—whether it’s your first time at the wheel or you’re looking to refine your technique.
You’ll leave with 1–2 finished hand thrown pottery pieces, depending on your skill level, pace, and the quality of your creations suitable for firing.

Wheel throwing basics and techniques
How to shape and center clay for a mug
Handle-making and attachment methods
Finishing techniques for a well-balanced, functional mug including trimming

Please bring your own apron or clothes you don’t mind getting dirty. For your own personal safety during this class, please:
Wear closed-toe shoes
Ensure long hair is securely tied up and out of the way
Remove all jewelry
Do not wear loose clothing
Prerequisites
None. This class is beginner and intermediate friendly. Open to ages 16+.
