A hands-on introduction to woodworking for women and gender-diverse makers.

Class Overview

This 3-session series is a welcoming entry point for anyone curious about working with wood. In a supportive and beginner-friendly environment, you’ll learn essential woodworking skills while building your own beautiful and functional hardwood mallet.

What You’ll Learn

  • How to read a layout and take accurate measurements

  • Basic wood joinery using the wedged mortise & tenon technique

  • The difference between hardwoods and softwoods—and when to use them

  • Safe use of both hand and power tools

  • Glue-up techniques and assembly

  • Wood finishing for a smooth, lasting result

Closed-toe shoes required

Avoid loose clothing and tie back long hair

Safety glasses, ear protection, and dust masks provided (bring your own if preferred)

None, this class is a safe entry point into woodwork. (But even if you’ve done some before it will be an enriching learning experience)

This class is open to women and gender-diverse individuals (ages 16+). It’s ideal for complete beginners or anyone seeking a slower-paced, skill-building introduction to woodworking.
