Table Saw Tips and Tricks

Take your table saw knowledge to the next level with Burke McGuinness. Work through a quick photo frame project while learning about blades, dados, grooves, angled cuts, bevels and more. And if some of these words are new to you - don’t worry! By the end of this 4 hour class, you’ll be ready to tackle advanced table-saw cuts on your own.

Class includes all materials and instruction to make your own professionally finished photo frame with a kickstand or wall mount.

Learning Objectives:

  • Review Hazards

  • Material support using infeed and outfeed rollers

  • Blades (Identifying the correct blade for your cut. removal and re-installation of blades)

  • Managing Blade Brakes

  • Setting Fences, Guides, and Jigs

  • Use and removal of the riving knife

  • Review rip fence, crosscut sled, miter gauge

  • Use of feed rollers for downward pressure

  • Cutting miters and angled cuts using the miter gauge

  • Use of featherboards for pressure into the fence (discussion only)

  • Cutting a taper using a taper jig and rip fence (discussion only)

  • Bevelling the blade

  • Setting the blade angle accurately using an angle finder as well as a digital angle box

  • Cutting bevels and chamfers

  • Dado’s and Grooves

Prerequisites

Wood Tools 1

You do not need to be a Create Member to take a class :)

Things to bring:

  • Safety glasses

  • Hearing protection

  • Closed toe shoes

  • Remove jewelry

  • Tie back long hair

  • No loose clothing

  • Dust mask (optional)
