POLICIES
-
No member access to dumpsters. Dispose of your waste within Create Makerspace.
Cut all waste into straight pieces no longer than 2’ to reduce the overall volume.
If a bin is full, notify a member of staff. Please do not leave waste on the ground next to the bin.
All sawdust must be in bags. Please make sure there is a bag in place before dumping your sawdust.
Usable scraps (must be regular shaped) should be placed in the appropriate scrap area. Tiny offcuts or random shapes do not count as usable - please throw them out.
-
Please keep work in the parking lot to a minimum.
If it can be done inside, do it inside.
If it can’t be done inside, please park at the south end in front of Unit 1 to minimize impact to our neighbours in Unit 5. See parking map.
No sawdust creation - use the wood shop.
No metal grinding - use the metal shop.
No spray painting. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate spray painting anywhere at Create Makerspace. Brush on paint is recommended.
No storage of materials outside.
No vehicle maintenance in the parking lot. Please pull into the metal shop to do car mechanic work.
Our neighbours often complain about activities in the parking lot, and we risk being fined by the strata. If you break these rules, you will be liable for the fine.
-
Most people at Create are considerate, and if a rule is broken, it is because it wasn’t known about. However, if rules are broken knowingly, we have a three strike policy:
First strike = formal warning
Second strike = Minimum $100 fine
Third strike = Membership suspended
-
If you have booked a class and can’t make it, here is what happens:
>3 days notice = full refund
>24h notice = 50% refund
<24h notice = no refund
If you are unable to make it due to sickness, please contact info@createmakerspace.com with a doctor’s note and we may be able to issue a credit for a future class.
-
If you break a tool or find something broken, please submit a maintenance form. This helps us respond to issues and makes things easy to track.
If something is dangerous and should not be used, please notify a staff member immediately and they will place an out of order sign on the tool.
Please do not attempt to fix the tool yourself. Well meaning maintenance efforts can sometimes lead to further damage.
-
If you hurt yourself, or if there is a near miss, please submit a health & safety form. This helps us fix the issue and track ongoing problems. It also helps us replenish first aid supplies.
If there is an ongoing danger to others, please notify a staff member immediately.
-
Please go to the front desk to make purchases, including materials. You can also purchase items online, but please show your receipt to a staff member before helping yourself.
-
We encourage members to sell their products in our retail store! Please contact Veronika to list your items.
Create Makerspace takes a 30% commission on any purchases made. The maker receives 70%.
