PAINT A POT

Drop in solo or with a friend, choose from a variety of handmade pottery pieces and paint a masterpiece with your own artistic flare.


    • One piece of bisque ware 

    • Underglaze palette with 6 colour choices (additional underglaze for sale in the retail space)

    • Paint brushes to use in the studio

    • Firing of your piece to make it food safe and functional

  • Come in any time we are open, choose your pre-made bisque ware piece and select your colours. Pay for your items at the front desk, then take them through to the pottery studio to get to work. Once you are done, fill out a form, leave it inside your pot, and we’ll take care of the rest! You can come back and pick up your piece in 4-6 weeks.

    • Build up your underglaze by applying 3 thin, even layers allowing each layer to dry in between applications.

    • If you layer colours, the top layer will show the most. You can blend colours to create transitions or mix colours before application to create custom shades. 

    • Sketch your design in pencil first. Don’t worry, it will burn off during firing.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are brushes available in the paint a pot section in the retail space (next to where you picked out your piece). There are additional brushes in the pottery studio on the tool wall.

  • Please leave your pot on the shelf under the “Paint a Pot - finished pieces here” sign. Make sure you leave a completed form tucked inside.

  • You can leave your paint palette on the shelf next to your finished piece. Please wash and put away your paint brushes.

  • You can wash your hands in the big sink in the studio or in the small sink in the bathroom. Use the clean cloths in the white hamper to dry your hands.

  • 4-6 weeks.

  • We can ship small mugs large mugs and small bowls. We cannot ship large bowls or plates Please talk to a member of staff to request this option. There is an additional shipping charge depending on the destination.

  • The idea is to add designs and embellishments rather than to coat the entire thing, but you are the boss. You may need to buy more underglaze though!

  • Yes, you can purchase additional 6-way pots of underglaze in the retail store for $8.

  • You can paint your pot for as long as you like during opening times. Most people spend 1.5 - 2 hours.

  • You are welcome to bring a small snack or beverage into the studio space as long as you clean up after yourself.
