Position: Marketing Intern

Start date: April - May 2025

End date: July - August 2025 (maximum duration = 20 weeks)

Location: Squamish BC (in person)

Hours: 16h - 24h/week. Flexible to suit your needs.

Pay: $20/h

Eligibility:

● You must be enrolled in an academic program at a Canadian college or university

full or part time.

● You do not need to be actively studying at the time.

● Recent graduates and international students are not eligible.

● You must be a citizen of Canada, a permanent resident or have refugee status.

About Us:

Create Makerspace is an arts and culture hub in Squamish featuring a fully equipped shop

for wood work, metal work, textiles, pottery and jewelry. We have been open since January

2024 offering memberships, classes, studio rentals and a design & fabrication service. Our

mission is to create a well-equipped, accessible, inclusive community hub that makers,

artists, and innovators can use for business, recreation and education.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated Marketing Intern to join our team and accelerate our

marketing and community management efforts. The role offers an opportunity for you to

independently take your ideas from start to finish with the support of an experienced

marketing mentor. Brainstorm, plan, budget and execute marketing campaigns for a variety

of events for Squamish’s creative community.

What you’ll be doing:

1. Marketing Assistance: Support other team members with creating content for our

website, newsletter, social media and other marketing channels.

2. Website Upgrade: Update our existing website to feature new programming,

including Design and Fabrication, Residency Programs, and Team Building events.

3. Community Management: Engage with community members on a day-to-day basis,

creating a friendly and welcoming environment.

4. Event Management: Plan and execute, among other events, a quarterly membership

event at the makerspace, including budgeting, marketing, and event logistics.

5. Class planning: Assist other team members in ongoing class management, as well

as organizing and planning new classes and workshops.

What kind of person you are:

● Excel at story-telling and creating compelling content through text, photo, and

video media. You may already have ideas on how to improve this role description.

● Networker and community-minded. You don’t need to be extroverted, but a passion

for connecting people with what they need and building relationships will go a long

way.

● Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage

multiple tasks simultaneously.

● Experience with marketing tools like Squarespace, Mailchimp, Meta Ads Manager,

etc is an asset, but not required.

● Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate

effectively within a diverse team and engage with makerspace members.

● Passion for creativity, innovation, and lifelong learning, with a desire to contribute to

a dynamic makerspace community.
