Learn your way around the Create Makerspace textiles studio and go home with a tote bag! Participants will learn sewing terminology, sewing machine basics, measuring & cutting fabric, and choosing stitches. Great for sewers with little to no machine experience.

Learning Objectives:

• Tour of textiles space

• Learn the names of tools & notions

• Identifying grainline and right side/wrong side of fabric

• Using a rotary cutter & mat to measure & cut fabric

• Getting to know the sewing machine

• Choosing the right stitch

• Seam allowance

• Backstitching + topstitching

• Making and turning straps

• Finishing your seams

Fabric & thread will be provided for participants.
