Accessing Create with Kids
At CREATE Makerspace, we believe in fostering creativity, hands-on learning, and skill development for makers of all ages—including the next generation! While our space is primarily designed for adults, we offer a range of structured programs and opportunities for youth under 18 to explore woodworking, pottery, textiles, and more in a safe, supportive environment.
Robotis SUMMER CAMP 2026
Is your 10–15 year old curious about how robots work, interested in coding, or excited to build something from scratch? Looking for a hands-on, creative way to spend Summer Break? You’ve found a great program!
What You’ll Be Doing:
Introduction to robotics (sense → think → act)
Basic coding with Arduino
Building a robot chassis
Wiring motors and controls
Using ultrasonic sensors to detect obstacles
Programming IR sensors to follow a line
POTTERY SUMMER CAMP 2026
This Summer Break, young makers are invited to spend their days in the ceramics studio exploring clay through both wheel throwing and handbuilding. Designed for kids aged 9–14, this multi-day pottery program introduces foundational ceramic skills while leaving plenty of room for creativity, experimentation, and fun.

WOODWORKING SUMMER CAMP 2026
Is your 10-15 year old interested in learning more about woodworking, increasing their confidence, and practicing hands-on skills? Need something (literally) constructive for them to do during Summer Break? You’ve found a great program!
What You’ll Be Doing:
Wood Shop Safety
Layout & Measurement
Power Tool Use (Bandsaw, Table Router, Drill Press)
Hand Tool Use
Assembly Process and Strategies
Make & Paint a Plate
In this workshop, kids will create a functional, nature inspired plate, and paint it with underglaze to give it that personal touch.
What you’ll be doing
Rolling and cutting out slabs in your chosen shape
Compressing slabs to create strength
Shaping your plate for functionality
Decorating to add flair and personality
ELECTRONICS FOR GOOD
In this 3-hour, hands-on workshop, participants will build an assistive switch using 3D-printed parts and simple electronics as part of Makers Making Change. Learn the basics of 3D printing, wiring, and soldering while contributing to accessible play through community donation. Beginner-friendly and intergenerational.
After School Pottery Program
A 5-week pottery class designed just for youth 10-15. Students learn wheel throwing, trimming, and glazing while creating their own ceramic pieces in a supportive studio environment. A fun and hands-on way to build real pottery skills after school.
Intergenerational Woodworking Classes
Our Sunday morning family-friendly woodworking sessions allow kids (ages 6-15) to build exciting projects alongside a parent, grandparent, or mentor. Learn tool safety, hand-tool techniques, and teamwork—all while creating something amazing together!
INTRO TO WHEEL: KIDS FIRST SPIN
Looking for a fun, creative activity for kids? Our beginner-friendly pottery wheel class is a playful introduction to working with clay. In this 2-hour guided class, kids will learn the basics of wheel throwing and create up to two simple pieces, like small cups or containers. We move step by step as a group in a supportive, encouraging environment, so everyone can follow along and have fun, no experience needed.
Private Classes for Kids & Families
Looking for a tailored experience? We offer private classes for youth (up to 2 students per session), designed to match their interests and skill levels. These 1-on-1 sessions are priced at $100/hour and can focus on woodworking, textiles, or other making skills.
Youth Memberships (Ages 13+)
Youth aged 13 and older are eligible for a buddy membership at CREATE when accompanied by an adult member.
