Wanted: Instructors

Teaching at Create Makerspace

Classes are a key aspect of Create Makerspace. From introductory classes that may offer students their first chance to touch a power tool to project based workshops that offer niche knowledge, we want to be the go-to place for maker classes in the Sea-to-Sky. We need great instructors to make this happen.

Interested in teaching at Create Makerspace? Read the description and benefits below and then send us an email.

Core Instructors

We run multiple core classes each week at the makerspace, and we’d love to continue expanding our class schedule! Here are classes that we’re currently looking for additional instructors for:

  • Wood Tools 1 and 2

  • Textiles 1 and 2 (Tote Bag and Zipper Pouches)

  • Metal Tools 1

  • CNC Level 1

  • Laser Cutting Level 1

  • Wood Lathe Level 1

These classes already have the curriculum designed, and most run between 3 - 6 hours on weekends and evenings. No prep is required!

Instructors will need to attend an orientation meeting with makerspace staff prior to teaching. Depending on the class, orientation may include reviewing curriculum, a fast-track assessment of the workshop, or teaching a class as an assistant instructor. We want you to feel supported and be successful in your role.

Workshop Instructors

Have your own workshop or idea for a class? We’d love to support you in running it! Our team is experienced in helping develop curriculums, budgeting, marketing and class logistics. Send us a pitch and we’ll work with you to make it happen. Please note that we choose to run workshops we feel will be successful, financially feasible, and a good fit for the makerspace community.

For new workshops, we offer a 50/50 split on revenue (after material cost).

Benefits of being an Instructor

  • $30/hr starting wage for core instructors, or revenue split with workshop instructors.

  • 30% off other Create classes.

  • 60 minutes of free CNC and laser cutting time each month (training required).

  • Networking and access to a new market of students.

  • Become a part of our vibrant creative community and meet other makers!
