Class Overview

Discover the bold, graphic beauty of sgraffito — a surface-decorating technique where a layer of coloured slip or underglaze is applied to clay and then carved through to reveal the contrasting clay body beneath. This process creates striking, high-contrast designs ranging from delicate linework to bold illustrative patterns.

In this special one-day workshop, you’ll learn directly from Ana Shioshita of Shioshita Ceramics, whose precise carving and thoughtful compositions have made her work instantly recognizable in the local ceramics community. Whether you’re expanding your ceramics skillset or trying decorative techniques for the first time, Ana will guide you through each step with demonstrations, professional insights, and plenty of carve time.
